Wrangler Fall/Winter 12 Launch (Farkkuja & Vaahterasiirappia)

On Tuesday I visited Miltton Showroom to view the new collection of Wrangler – the original American outdoor denim brand. Company’s history dates back all the way to the early 20th century, to 1904 to be exact. Today design details and icons from Wrangler's heritage meet modern innovations.
So the morning started by eating some pancakes&trying on jeans. There were great cropped cigarette pants and flared bootcut styles...but my favourites were high-waisted & skinny, 50’s inspired Jess jeans. They have a way of making your waist look smaller and I've been wearing mine every day since Tuesday. X

Marimekko a/w 12 Fashion Show

Marimekko autumn/winter 2012 clothes, bags and accessories collection was revealed on Thursday at a fashion show in Katajanokka’s old customs house. Before the show started, the managing director Mika Ihamuotila told a bit more about the motif, which was like with the interior collection; off to the woods. He was talking about how we Finns maybe don’t appreciate the nature that so often starts right from our doorstep, quite as much as we should. The citizens of New York, London and Tokyo were used as a comparison, whom have to settle for a park or maybe a spa to get away from the hectic city. As a former Londoner, I could totally relate to this. What comes to the show, I especially liked the loose-fitting woollen coats designed by Tuula Pöyhönen. There were lots of colourful sock and tights as well as wood & resin jewellery that reminded me of some old Marni ones I have, but then again as it was my workplace for so many years, I always see 'Marni' everywhere...

Marimekko – Off to the Woods

My Tuesday morning started in beautiful settings. I had come to Katajanokka to an old warehouse building by the sea to view Marimekko’s newest autumn/winter 2012 interior decoration collection. I was drinking a cup of coffee sitting “in a forest” on a wooden log,  picking up a sandwich from picnic style basket while enjoying the atmosphere; printed fabrics hanging high from the ceiling, crockery scattered around, beautiful  lamps illuminating the darkness and bed linen in voluminous formations. What a perfect place it was to unwind before a busy day ahead!

Samuji Fall 2012

“Old Italy meets Finnish folklore”

Finnish fashion label Samuji’s autumn/winter 12 collection premiered at Copenhagen Fashion Week last Friday. It is easy to like a brand that lists things as this in its press release: “Samuji is about simple functionality, a love of necessary things, kindness and quality.”, “...clothes that last from season to season, in style and in quality.” And what great pieces this collection holds within; I am particularly in love with the oversized coats!
