Shoes, Shoes, Shoes!!

New Year - new tricks: after the sales it is again time to start looking forward to the new spring collections! Here are some great ones worth waiting for from up & coming Finnish shoe designer, Terhi Pölkki. Her shoes combine minimalism, quality materials, practicality and ecological approach. I for one cannot wait to receive my own pair of Emil in black/turquoise!

Toimi, Kauko, Olga & Pasi

On Wednesday evening it sure was cold outside but not so inside of Marimekko’s flagship store, where a new ‘Normi’ -bag line was launched. The atmosphere was cosy & relaxed: 60’s tunes were played on the decks while organic snacks were served, but what about the bags...Called Pasi, Olga, Toimi and Kauko, they come in four sizes either in colour or black, each finished with a leather handle. Designed for Marimekko by Tuula Pöyhönen, these bags are predicted to be future classics.

Longchamp Paris, printemps/spring 2012

Longchamp's spring 2012 collection was presented to the press last week at Spalt PR Helsinki. The traditional bag&luggage brand is slowly expanding to other accessories as well as ready-to-wear. Shoes and sunglasses will be new in Finland the upcoming season! Good alternative for those seeking something elegant, basic and timeless!

Jean Paul Gaultier by Mikli

” because there was the one, because there was the other...”

” The one reinvented the sailor’s outfit, the other reinvented specs: their paths have finally come together, and they have wed - a fantastic union.”

I had the honour to meet the Monsieur Alain Mikli himself on a rainy Thursday afternoon at the Alain Mikli store in Helsinki, where he introduced his brand new collaboration with Jean Paul Gaultier. He seemed like a fascinating character and like a true artist, talking with his French accent and sipping red wine. Questions like: ”How many models are in this collection?” was answered with comic: “I have no idea!” Luckily the lovely pr lady had done her homework and we soon found out that it in fact consists of 20 models (both specs and sunglasses), prices ranging from about 219-320 € and available now!

Peigne Trio: for joyful widows or cheeky Parisiennes, 219 €

Éventail, 320 €
