FOUR BOXES OF HER

Photographer Päivi Anita Ristell’s exhibition ’Four Boxes of Her’ is a touching and personal story of the loss of her sister, Jenni. Dealing with sorrow and longing, the exhibition consists of several different parts: texts&images printed on rice paper, portraits, childhood photographs, sound installation...and as the name suggests; installation of the four boxes that Jenni’s things are packed into. Memories, longing and these four boxes – that is what remains of her little sister.

(Everything You Did Not Want to Know) About Alice and the Rabbit

These are just beautiful! Photographer & illustrator Saara Salmi's solo exhibition ‘About Alice and the Rabbit’ is based on the fascinating story of a sketchbook – an old family heirloom – given to her by her grandmother. It consisted of strange drawings about a magical place underground and creatures with long rabbit ears. “I have reconstructed evidence that has nearly been destroyed, I've discovered artefacts from museums, archives and cross referenced them directly with the drawings in my grandmother’s sketchbook. It is finally time to reveal what really happened to Alice and the Rabbit.”

Cooper & Gorfer

 “...from the dream like parallel world of the Pre-Raphaelites, to the startling juxtapositions and suggestive manner of Surrealism”

Artist duo Cooper & Gorfer consists of American Sarah Cooper (1974) and Austrian Nina Gorfer (1979). Their photography exists at the intersection of contemporary photography and 18th and 19th century painting, relying on post-production techniques such as drawing, painting, collage making and Photoshop. They tell of their work: “Place and story are the catalysts of our work – transforming narrative and memories into image.” I say: A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
