Tasters of Fall 2013 (la deuxième partie)

Wrangler’s Denim Spa is continuing from its spring launch with new wintery shades and added styles (including my fave; Jess, the high waist skinny). Those of you not familiar with the concept, it basically is a spa treatment for your legs as you wear your jeans! Denim is infused with moisturizers like olive extract, aloe vera and sea kelp to help smooth your legs.

Coming Up from H&M...

Last Thursday I visited the H&M showroom to view the upcoming spring/summer 12 collection. Firstly I was greeted with a lot of colour: orange, fluoro apple green, blues and yellow, to name a few. But when looking further there were also lots of whites and other neutral colours to be mixed with the brights! Lovely shoes: creepers in white, high-tops and wooden clogs with a slight Japanese touch. For men: brogues with a contrast colour sole. The fabulous food was prepared by Pipsa Hurmerinta. Another thing worth mentioning about H&M is that they seldom give press gifts but instead donate to charity, this time to WaterAid!

My half-yearly highlights at the Toveri Helsinki press days include the witty Maison Scotch / Scotch&Soda collections and the amazing food. Unfortunately I didn’t take a picture of the latter, but let’s have a look at this affordable Amsterdam-based label's current fall/winter lookbook & campaign pics!

Diesel & Heikki Salonen – the beginning of a new era

Yesterday I was excited to see the first full collection that the newly appointed Head of Design Heikki Salonen with his team has designed for Diesel’s spring/summer 2012 season! At the same time the whole Diesel womenswear brand has been relaunched and is getting a slightly more grown-up and softer aesthetic.

The denim line has been reduced to six styles (available in several washes) and completely redesigned. They include a high waisted & 50’s inspired Highkee (which apparently is how the Italians pronounce the Finn Heikki’s name), Myguy boyfriend style and skinnies that have a higher back so you can actually bend down comfortably.

Traces of the former Fashion East and NEWGEN designer Salonen’s style can definitely be seen in the menswear influenced shirts, prints, shorts, sheer fabrics and in a certain long dress with leather detailing. Meanwhile there was so much more: shoes, great rucksacks and so on but having only gotten two hours of sleep the night before, I was going around like some mad lady and couldn’t get my head around for the half of it...
