MTWTFSS Collection
Weekday celebrates its 10th anniversary this year
and is presenting a new line called MTWTFSS Collection with emphasis on quality
and sharp, ageless design. It contains both basic wear and classic, tailored
garments in materials such as cashmere, silk, wool and fine cotton. I checked
out the collection last week and being a little over-obsessive about materials myself,
I got my eye on few pieces already! Available Feb 2012!

Comme des Garçons @ Artek
Last night I attended the opening of the Comme des Garçons pocket store at Artek Helsinki. Titled as ‘The Two Towers’ it is an
installation of merchandise literally in a form of two towers. Selection includes
beautiful wallets, ‘Shirt Forever’ button down shirts, perfumes, t-shirts etc.
Event also included the launch of the new CDG perfume and meet&greet with the husband of designer Rei Kawakubo and CEO of the company, Adrian
Joffe. Great night and more importantly great to have this concept in Helsinki!

Vogue, Kate Moss & David Bowie
Cover of the newest issue of Vogue Paris with Kate Moss as Ziggy Stardust reminded me of another Vogue cover from my own mag archives in my bookshelf. Starring Moss in the style of Bowie's Aladdin Sane, it was one of those few magazines
that I just couldn’t bear to leave behind when moving from London to Helsinki.

Coming Up from H&M...
Last Thursday I visited the H&M showroom to view the
upcoming spring/summer 12 collection. Firstly I was greeted with a lot of
colour: orange, fluoro apple green, blues and yellow, to name a few. But when looking further there were also lots of whites and other neutral colours to be mixed with the brights! Lovely shoes: creepers in white, high-tops and wooden clogs with a slight Japanese
touch. For men: brogues with a contrast colour sole. The fabulous food was
prepared by Pipsa Hurmerinta. Another thing worth mentioning about H&M is
that they seldom give press gifts but instead donate to charity, this time to WaterAid!

COS, My Dear
Those
of you who are as old as I am, will remember those dreary days when there was
nothing in Finland and even to go to H&M you had to travel to Sweden. For a
moment there, a few weeks ago, I almost got a ‘déjà vu’ when I made a trip to
Stockholm just because I wanted to visit COS.
When
the first ever COS store opened in London in 2007, there was this unconfirmed
rumour going around in the fashion circuit, that the certain Ms. Jil Sander was
somehow involved in the design process. True or (probably) not, their designs certainly
echo the same minimalism and understated elegance. I can also see a lot of
similarity with another fashion brand (&my old workplace) – Marni. Anyhow,
having been one of my favourite shops while living in London, I was joyous when
they recently opened a web store! As I was browsing through the selection, my
friend hinted me about these 10€ cruises to Stockholm…The postal charge would
have been 6€, so I figured, I might as well visit the actual shop! Photos from
that trip can be seen in here, but now let's have a look at these beautiful
pictures from the COS current fall campaign!
